This is Abe Gonzales, Certified Master Farrier, who
very kindly helps out. Larry was an angel for Abe,
with his first shoes. No trouble whatsoever.
Larry is now Makana
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home. We rescue abused, abandoned, or neglected
equines; provide them with compassionate care and rehabilitation; and finally find them a compatible,
loving home. We believe that education is the long term solution to improving the lives of equines.
CB Horse Rescue is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the compassionate care of
equines. Your donations keep us going and the horses happy. We welcome you to join our growing list
of sponsors, every little bit helps. As donations increase we will be able to help more horses. Every
little bit helps!
OK, WHICH ONE IS HE???
This horse had been 'imprinted' as a foal by some folks who may or may not have
known exactly what they were doing. Then he was raised with his mother, and not
separated from her until he was fifteen, when we got him. He had never learned to
bond with a Human, and when he was put out in the pasture with those lovely
mares, he thought he was the ruler. He was being VERY naughty!
So we took him back, and contacted some other people that had wanted him from
came here, and in about four hours, he was on his way to Kona.
Adoption Number Two: Larry went to Kona for two months, and
became Makana, which means Gift. They did a really good job with
him, and he learned to be loved. However, they found themselves
overwhelmed with other issues, and unfortunately, Makana came
back to the Rescue.
Good News! Makana now lives on nine acres
of grass, with a tiny black and white pony, and
he loves her, and Makana's new owner thinks he
is just wonderful! (Pictures soon!) We are very
happy abputthis, because every time a horse comes
back to the rescue it just makes placing him again that
much harder. But we will do whatever it takes.
